The Office of the Commissioner for Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) is committed to providing quality training and resources to assist organisations to better understand their obligations under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (PDPA).
CPDP has developed an online privacy training module – Introduction to Privacy in the Victorian Public Sector – that explores the obligations of Victorian public sector organisations under Part 3 of the PDPA. The training is targeted at Victorian public sector employees but is a resource available to everybody who is interested in learning more about information privacy.
The module covers topics such as what information privacy is, who the PDPA applies to, the Information Privacy Principles, and who has a responsibility for ensuring that individuals’ privacy is upheld. Each slide in the online module is accompanied by an audio component that provides additional commentary on the topics discussed. To access the online module you will need to register an account via the Online Privacy Training link below.
CPDP has also produced a Powerpoint version of the same training module (without voiceover) should learners wish to read through the slides and speaking notes without the interactivity of the online module. Organisations may also wish to make use of the Powerpoint and accompanying speaking notes to deliver in-house training, as an alternative to staff completing the module individually. To access the Powerpoint users will need to download the file via the Privacy Training Module – Powerpoint link below.
